2020 pulled a fast one by giving us an extra week of January. And man, was it brutal. To give you an idea: I spent this evening in an elementary school running boxes of Girl Scout cookies up flights of stairs while contemplating how epically the American math curriculum has failed us.

I feel like a winner after walking out with a bottle of wine from the office summer soiree. And by soiree, I mean pizza party. And no, I did not steal it.

The Happiest Hour – 3/22/19

Tonight, we gather for our second Drinking Club meeting of 2019. Our gathering spot has the same name as a location in my Hallmark Channel guilty pleasure (conveniently not one of the twenty shows that starred Aunt Becky, thank God). Will one of us have a meet cute that will make you simultaneously cringe AND swoon? Only time will tell.

Here’s what you missed this week:

We can silently sob together while watching this Michelle Obama book club video.
While I love Nora, and would love to have her Rolodex, we would have had major problems if we were roommates.
Book Twitter shares the books listed in online dating profiles that should have you running for the hills, and also reminds us of the books from which springs eternal love.
Let us pray that the Gods bring Letters Live back to the States so we can all enjoy this heartfelt and hilarious event…and Benedict Cumberbatch.
I’d live in the Cupboard Under The Stairs, if it had one of these.

The Happiest Hour – 11/16/18

The Club is drinking with Ryan Merriman (of Luck of The Irish DCOM fame) tonight. Jealous? We thought you might be. So here’s something that’s (almost) as good: a week’s worth of weird reads. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy.

Tom Gauld’s literary cartoon strips in The Guardian are oh-so-delightful and British. I recommend the book’s journey off the shelf and Jane Austen’s choose-your-own-adventure.
Get a lesson in self-promotion from, who else, Herman Melville. I now must place my reviews in all the local circulars.
We feel like Britney after Oxford released their word of the year.
Now here’s a sport I can handle: book sorting. Yes, you read that right.
There is a forest in Norway being cultivated to publish books that won’t be read until 2114. Time to fire up the DeLorean.
