O come, all ye faithful: ’tis the last work day before the holiday weekend. For those of us whose place of business shutters for the week between Christmas and New Year’s, we’re brought back to the glorious days of elementary school, eagerly watching the seconds tick by while trying not to eat another one of our coworker’s homemade chocolate chip cookies in the office kitchenette. A “very festive yule log” cake was left in my office’s common space, but as the creator of said treat did not identify themselves, we thought it best to avoid.
What we are not avoiding: the free wine at holiday lunches, and these reads from the week:
- Christmas came early: the 2019 book tracking spreadsheet is live.
- Vox explains how Instagram is helping save independent bookstores. Keep taking selfies at the Books Are Magic wall.
- Lit Hub wants people to stop making Christmas Pride & Prejudice adaptations happen. Tell Lacey Chabert these are not fetch.
- For a bit of grammar fun with your holiday cheer, check out Comma Queen’s look at some Christmas grammar gripes.
Cheers,
E
